Talking portraiture and connection with the 29-year-old painter behind Lily Allen's West End Girl album cover
Coming right off the back of the Knicks’ NBA Championships win, the FIFA World Cup has cemented the fact that live sporting events can truly bring the world together, even if you’re not an enthusiast. From the excited tourists and communal watch parties to underdog stories and the GOATs making history, soccer is at the center of our conversations (and style) at the moment. And while everyone has their respective teams they’re rooting for, there’s one country that comes on top for cultural relevance… and fashion: Brazil.
The men’s Brazilian national soccer team has won the most World Cups in history. It’s also home to some of the greatest players of all time, from Pelé to Neymar. And it’s created an avid fanbase that’s reached people outside of stadiums and across nationalities. So much so that Brazilian soccer jerseys and merch have popped up the most on our favorite celebrities, across the fashion scene, and all over our TikTok feeds.
“Brazil’s jersey has been woven into fashion and popular culture for generations, giving it a legacy that extends well beyond the game itself,” stylist and Depop trends spokesperson Gabriella Karefa-Johnson tells Refinery29. “The jersey’s enduring connection to iconic players, music, and street style has made it one of the few national kits that people wear as a fashion statement first and fan merchandise second.” And right now, that’s more apparent to me than ever.
From celebrities like Dua Lipa, Hailey Bieber, and Camila Cabello proudly repping the country’s merch in recent months to influencers making viral videos on how to DIY or style the soccer jerseys for different occasions, Brazilian merch has become a dominating fashion trend this summer.
According to Depop, searches for Brazil jerseys have increased by over 900% on the resell platform in the last three months (and Brazil tank tops and shirts by over 500%). Plus, Pinterest’s Summer 2026 Trend Report revealed that in addition to soccer style taking over this summer, “Brazil jersey outfit women” specifically increased by over 300% in searches across the platform’s 600 million monthly users.
Because of the widespread demand, many Brazilian brands are also thriving in the spotlight: from Havaianas (which increased over 250% in searches on Depop) to Farm Rio, Sol de Janeiro, and Melissa. And many other brands have taken the fandom and momentum and ran with it. Retailers like Old Navy, Bershka, and Hollister have released official FIFA athleisure styles, while others like Urban Outfitters, Pacsun, and Los Angeles Apparel have capitalized on the striking yellow and green color combo.
“Brazilians rep their colors harder than most! The limoncello yellow and palm frond green […] is coded into the visual and fashion culture of the country from vintage kits to Havaianas — so much so that, globally, the colors evoke the bombastic energy of the place itself,” Karefa-Johnson says.
But it shouldn’t be so surprising that so many people across nationalities also wear Brazilian-coded fashion, especially considering Brazil has some of the largest populations of Portuguese, Japanese, Lebanese, Italian, Syrian, Ukrainian, Korean, German, Venezuelan, and African diasporas in the world. The country is a true melting pot that continues to attract, influence, and inspire so many cultures.
After Brazil recently beat Japan in the final minute of their knockout game, the country may get the chance to bring home the World Cup trophy yet again on July 19. But even if they don’t, there’s no denying the team’s longstanding impact beyond the field.
And especially because the 2027 Women’s World Cup will be held in Brazil, I’m pretty positive that Brazil merch won’t be a fleeting trend, but rather continue on as an enduring sporty fashion staple that we’ll reach for for years to come.

The Amazon Swimsuits Worth The Hype
When it’s sweltering out, the only thing more appealing than blasting the AC is slipping into an ultra-lightweight dress that barely skims the body. Whether it’s a floaty cotton dress that breathes easily, a poplin midi with cut-outs for added airflow, or a linen maxi made for getaways, these summer-ready silhouettes are what we’ll be living in from now through Labor Day.
This edit includes the best summer dresses we could find — many that won’t cling, bunch, or stick to sweaty skin. We’ve got all the trends covered, too: mini shift dresses that go from desk to drinks, scarf silhouettes, tiered maxi dresses made for triple-digit temps, picnic-ready gingham prints, and more.
Consider this your guide to surviving the heat in style — whether your summer plans include vacation travels and beach weddings that require packable dresses or more casual music festivals and late-night birthday parties.
Maxis may offer the most coverage, but the best ones still feel easy, airy, and perfectly cool on hot days. Reach for mesh or fringe maxis that are just right for summer weddings, open-back halter styles for date nights, or breezy cotton and linen dresses that are as versatile as can be.
Midi lengths strike the perfect balance between ease and polish — ideal for office days, dinner plans, cocktail parties, or anything in between. Refresh your assortment with of-the-moment silhouettes like asymmetric handkerchief designs, drop-waist milkmaid dresses, and ’90s slip styles.
Short, swingy, and made to float away from the body, these minis are your best defense against summer’s stickiest days. But heat-proof doesn’t mean shapeless or void of detail — our favorites include shirred bodices, lace or embroidered accents, flowy sleeves, and quaint gingham prints.

Editors Share What They’re Buying For Prime Day
Last night, Daniella Kallmeyer kicked off the summer party season with an unforgettable birthday soirée. The visually stunning design studio, Apparatus, was transformed into Cafe Kallmeyer for the night with fashion insiders, actresses, and models putting their summer party looks to the test.
Of course, Kallmeyer made jaws drop in a sculptural wrap paired with coordinating trousers. To help her toast the evening, Severance actress Britt Lower, And Just Like That star Sarita Choudhury, and “Alaska” singer Maggie Rogers were among the chic revelers in the building. All in all, the festivities served as a chic lesson in what to wear to a friend’s birthday party. Whether you’re getting together for a rooftop gathering or a dance rager, take notes from last night’s cool attendees.
Ok, maybe not all of us have friends who are major fashion designers, but you can still show your support with playful merch that honors the birthday girl. Here, Lower reps the honoree with a Kall Gal tee. The biggest lesson here is all about balance. If you’re going super casual on the top with a tee, elevate the look with a fancy pair of pants like these Fall 2026 Kallmeyer embroidered beauties.
High-Texture Neutrals & Asymmetric SilhouettesYou never want to outshine your friend, but you can still make a subtle statement. The classiest way to do so is with lush texture and asymmetric silhouettes à la Choudhury. Bonus points if your shoes are easy to kick off for when the party really turns up on the dance floor.
Sharp, Deconstructed TailoringExacting tailoring will always be your friend for sharp day-to-night dressing. Follow Louisa Jacobson’s lead and wear a white-on-white tie and button-down shirt. Let timeless trousers add the finishing touches to the polished party look.
Sheer Tops & Subversive BasicsBreezy sheer tops feel special enough for the moment without overdoing it. Maggie Rogers demonstrates how to execute the party-ready look with black separates and a long pearl necklace.
Tactile Knits & Pop-of-Color UtilityPlayful pops of color like red and mustard will rise to the occasion. Keep the cool-girl vibes going by pairing tops with utilitarian cargo pants and colorblocking bags.
The “Borrow-from-the-Boys” Cool-Girl Uniform and The Ruched MaxiA menswear-inspired look always takes the cake, but if you’re in the mood for something on the other side of the sartorial spectrum, turn to a trusty maxi dress to celebrate the evening in.
