Anklets are moving from being a minimal aesthetic touch to a bold show of character.”

Nichols’ own celebrity-worn jewelry brand is known for its maximalism, which extends to the brand’s array of anklets boasting sizable and multichromatic gemstones. “The combination of colors I use are made to complement anything you wear and are so eye-catching. It’s almost like organized chaos but pretty. With it being so unique it attracts attention where people normally wouldn’t pay attention,” the founder adds.

My Most Complimented Perfume Just Went On Sale!

I can’t tell you how many social media ads I scroll past on any given day. However, I can tell you that the stars must have aligned (or fine, my algorithm reflected a love of naps, kittens, and other cozy things) to unite me with Comfrt, specifically the brand’s now internet-famous Airplane Mode Travel Hoodie.

When I tell you that a truer match couldn’t be conjured in heaven, I’m barely exaggerating. The moment I saw Comfrt’s hoodie with a built-in eye mask, my thumb and heart both stopped. The next thing I knew, I’d hit “place order” on matching sweatshirts for me and my husband.

That was back in February, and over five months later, the Comfrt Airplane Mode Travel Hoodie is still among my most-worn items in my closet. (In my mind, it’s more than paid for itself in terms of how many times I wear it.) Keep reading for why I’m already calling it one of the smartest purchases of the year, and why it belongs in your closet.

But unique features aside, it’s a really well-made sweatshirt. It’s constructed from a sturdy yet soft cotton-polyester fabric that doesn’t look bulky. I got it in the Steel Grey colorway, which feels neutral but not boring. I usually wear an XS (the size ranges from XS to 3X), and IMO, this has a slightly oversized fit that I love. It’s become the first thing I pack when I’m going on a trip, and when I’m home? I wear it when I need a quick power nap and am asleep within minutes (according to my Oura ring). And if you’re out and about running errands, just tuck the eye mask into the hood or wear the hood as you would normally with any other hoodie. (And in case you’re wondering, yes, Comfrt makes “regular” sweatshirts, along with other athleisure basics, travel bags, and accessories, and randomly, blankets.)

Whenever I post about this hoodie on my own Instagram, a handful of friends always pop up in my DMs to express their delight and/or tell me I inspired their purchase. (“Omg is that eye mask attached to the hoodie?!! I need that,” shared one friend, followed by a screenshot of her subsequent order.) Fashion is far from that post-pandemic dopamine dressing bubble, and it’s also emerging from a sweeping beige wave and quiet luxury spell. It’s certainly not dead, celebrity stylist Gabriella Karefa-Johnson tells Refinery29, “but the appetite for texture and pattern is definitely back, and snakeskin certainly has a starring role to play.” Fashion feels like it’s returning to a more whimsical, expressive self. We’ve seen this everywhere from street style in Paris to some of our favorite looks at the 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture. It makes sense that snakeskin bags are coming back into focus, too.

We’ve seen them everywhere, from Lupita Nyong'o carrying Brahmin on the Odyssey press tour to Khaite’s runway show in New York. Whether in a natural hue or a brighter, more artificial colorway, snake print adds something bold to any look, whether you’re headed to brunch or carrying it as your daily work bag. As Karefa-Johnson, who’s Depop’s Trend Spokesperson, says, “what I think is actually happening is people are just wanting to be loud and a bit messy again. Snakeskin gives you texture and a bit of wildness without committing to anything too extra.”

It helps that there’s been a crocodile bag wave since the spring, in large part to Chanel Creative Director Matthieu Blazy’s “Chanelmania” that descended when his debut collection hit store shelves. One of its stars? The reptilian-touched tote bags that went viral. (Karefa-Johnson herself bought the minty “mock-croc” shopping tote.) “Once something like that bag becomes the whole industry's obsession, everyone starts noticing animal prints and textures again, even outside of Chanel entirely,” the stylist, who’s worked with everyone from Bella Hadid to Vice President Kamala Harris, tells Refinery29.

If wearing snakeskin feels new or daring, style it as if it’s a neutral. As Karefa-Johnson says, “snakeskin actually plays really well with denim, T-shirts, and simple shapes because its texture is already doing a lot of work. Your outfit doesn't need to compete with it.” 

For anyone looking to score genuine snakeskin handbags without sticker shock, she shouts out Depop. “[It’s] a great place to source true vintage. You can find real snakeskin from the ’90s and early 2000s, which hit different than a lot of what's being made new right now. The leather is usually better, and it’s often available at a more affordable price point,” the stylist adds.
